Read More	Irene Agnes (Armbrust) Arnold passed away of natural causes on September 23, 2000 at a Great Falls, Montana hospital. She was born to Daniel and Elizabeth (Jaeger) Armbrust on February 2, 1929. Though both her civil birth certificate and church baptism record state she was born in Kildeer, Dunn County, North Dakota, she always claimed that she was born at the Grassy Butte, North Dakota, post office. The story is that her parents were trying to get to a doctor before her birth, but bad weather forced them to stop at Grassy Butte. Irene received her high school diploma from St. Joseph’s High School in Wild Rice, North Dakota, on June 1, 1947. She was the salutatorian in a class of eight young women. Following graduation, Irene worked as a stenographer at Bismarck Grocery in Dickinson, North Dakota. She and William Henry Arnold were joined in marriage at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson, North Dakota, on May 3, 1950. Rev. Michael Schmitt was the officiant. Dolores Armbrust, the bride’s sister, was maid of honor, and Walter Arnold, the groom’s brother, was best man. Other attendants included John Arnold, the groom’s brother, and Martha Focht, Pauline Wehner, and Frank Focht, all cousins of the groom. Celebrations continued that evening at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Gladstone, where the groom’s parents held a dinner and dance in honor of the newlyweds. In 1965, the family relocated to Great Falls, Montana, where Bill continued work as an auto mechanic at Bison Ford until his retirement in 1989. Irene was active in the Eagles for more than 25 years beginning in 1965, later serving as auxiliary secretary for nine years, as local auxiliary president in 1970 and 1980, and as state president in 1990-91. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, collecting T-shirts and sweatshirts, watching baseball, traveling, and attending Arnold family reunions. Her favorite color, especially in her later years, was purple. Survivors include sons William, Kelley, and Ryan, all of Great Falls, and Kevin Lemoore, CA; daughters Wynne, Penney, and Darla, all of Great Falls, and Wanda of Tiverton, RI, Laura of Omaha, NE, and Sandra of Priest River, ID; sister Dolores (Armbrust) Rodgers of Mandan, ND, and brother Elmer John Armbrust of Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Elizabeth (Jaeger) Armbrust.
