Description	:	Irene Anne (Cote) Bartlett, 88, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly and Waterloo, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Calvin Community Assisted Living in Des Moines from complications of Alzheimer’s. Irene was born on March 26, 1929, in Clark, South Dakota, the daughter of Edmond and Blanche (Bouton) Cote. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Read More	Irene Anne (Cote) Bartlett, 88, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly and Waterloo, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Calvin Community Assisted Living in Des Moines from complications of Alzheimer’s. Irene was born on March 26, 1929, in Clark, South Dakota, the daughter of Edmond and Blanche (Bouton) Cote. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Irene attended school in Clark, South Dakota, graduating from the Clark High School on May 26, 1947. Following her schooling, Irene began employment with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in May of 1950. She transferred to Minneapolis in 1953, later in Waverly and finally in Waterloo, retiring in the 1990’s. On September 14, 1955, Irene was united in marriage to Connie Lee Bartlett in Clear Lake, South Dakota, and to this union 3 children were born, Brad, Julie and Tom. The couple made their home in Clear Lake, South Dakota for a short time before moving to Peoria, Illinois. In 1958, the family moved to Waverly, Iowa, where Connie and Irene raised their family. Connie died on July 7, 1986, and Irene continued to live in Waverly, until she moved to Waterloo. In September of 2016, Irene moved to Des Moines to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and their family. Irene was born in the Catholic faith and following her marriage became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, and in her later years was attending the Catholic Church again. In her spare time Irene enjoyed quilting, traveling, genealogy, and was very active in plays for many years. Irene is survived by her three children; son, Dr. Bradley (Linda) Bartlett of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Julie Bartlett (and her friend Scott) of Longmont, Colorado; son, Thomas Bartlett of Oelwein, Iowa; and 2 grandchildren, Connor and Amanda. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Connie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Fr. David Ambrosy of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until services at 12:00 noon at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to the ARC of Cedar Valley at P.O. Box 4090, Waterloo, Iowa, 50704-4090. Online condolences for Irene’s family may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
