She was born on June 10, 1929, in Rich Fountain, the daughter of Anton and Catherine (Mengwasser) Raab. Read More	Jefferson City News Tribune, Feb 26, 2015: Irene Catherine Hoffman, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, at SSM Healthcare in Jefferson City. She was born on June 10, 1929, in Rich Fountain, the daughter of Anton and Catherine (Mengwasser) Raab. She was united in marriage on June 28, 1952, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Steve Hoffman, who preceded her in death on September 1, 1986. She attended Reichel's Country School near Rich Fountain. She then moved to Jefferson City around 1950 and went to work for Tweedie's Shoe Factory and McGraw-Edison. She then worked for the Missouri Division of Workers Compensation until her retirement. After retirement, she volunteered for St. Mary's Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, traveling with her family, watching her grandsons play sports, cooking, canning, baking her famous "Blackberry Cobbler" and spending time on her family farm in Freeburg. She loved her family most of all and enjoyed making meals and sharing stories around the table with them. Everyone was welcome at Irene's table. She is survived by one daughter: Donna Bassmann of Jefferson City; two grandsons: Brian Bassmann of St. Paul, Missouri and Christopher Bassmann of Jefferson City; seven siblings: Loretta Lairmore of Owensville, Missouri, Mildred (Joe) Taube of Wardsville, Mary Ann (Charles) Hurst Jr. of Jefferson City; Leona (Norman) Martin of Jefferson City, Alfred Raab of Freeburg; Pauline (Edwin) Stegeman of Wardsville and James Raab of Freeburg. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Samuel Bassmann and one brother-in-law: James Lairmore. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. John Schmitz officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Freeburg. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the: American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
