Description	:	LANSFORD Irene J. Jevne, 89, Minot, formerly of Lansford, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at a Garrison hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Minot, to Lawrence S. and Ida Mae (Tossett) Espeseth. She was raised on a farm five miles south of Lansford and graduated from Lansford High School. Irene married Fred H. Jevne Jan. 19, 1941, in Lansford. They moved to and farmed the Ole and Alice Espeseth farm (Irene's grandparents' farm), located in Lansford Township of Bottineau County. Jevne, 89, Minot, formerly of Lansford, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at a Garrison hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Minot, to Lawrence S. and Ida Mae (Tossett) Espeseth. She was raised on a farm five miles south of Lansford and graduated from Lansford High School. Irene married Fred H. Jevne Jan. 19, 1941, in Lansford. They moved to and farmed the Ole and Alice Espeseth farm (Irene's grandparents' farm), located in Lansford Township of Bottineau County. Irene also worked at Sullivan's Floral, Buttrey's and Ellison's Department Store. She moved to an assisted care living center in Minot in 1996. Fred died Feb. 12, 2005. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, the Lansford Lutheran Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, was a member of a Bible study group and also sang for weddings and funerals in her younger years. She attended Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot, for the past 20 years. She was also involved with the writing of the Lansford history. Irene lived by Eccl. 9:10, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." An accomplished artist, she was a member of several art leagues; she created numerous paintings in oil and watercolors. She also enjoyed reading, needlepoint, crewel embroidery and candle making. She enjoyed cooking and baking, canning, jelly making and making Norwegian pastries. Her memory will live on in the many flower gardens she created on her farm. Irene will be remembered as a kind, loving and compassionate woman who was very hard working and artistic. Anything she did, she did it well. Family: daughters, Bonnie A. (Ron) Stanley, Lansford, and Barbie Bauer, Minot; grandchildren, Duane Stanley, Wade Scott and Eric Bauer; stepgranddaughter, Heather Bauer Hall; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Karen Stanley, and Courtney Scott; stepgreat-grandchildren, Seri Hall and Noah Hall; and great-great-granddaughter, Ella K. Scott; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Myrtle Jevne, Alice Blanchard and Louise McLean. Funeral: Tuesday, July 26, at 11 a.m., at Trinity United Church, Lansford. Burial: Lansford Cemetery
