Description	:	Irene L. Peuse, 91, of Battle Creek, Neb., formerly of South Sioux City, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Eastview Cemetery in Allen, Neb. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Mrs. Peuse was born Sept. 4, 1909, on a farm near Concord, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Sophie (Rastede) Blohm. She attended rural school and graduated from Allen High School. She attended Morningside College and received her teaching certificate from Wayne State Teachers College. She married Elvin Nelson in 1934. He died in 1964 in Wakefield, Neb. They farmed near Allen and she taught in rural schools in Dixon County. She also taught school in South Sioux City and Sioux City. She retired after 32 years of teaching. She married John Peuse on Dec. 28, 1970, in Nashua, Iowa. He died June 4, 1986, in Sioux City. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the church guild, Senior Singles, the Bible Class and also taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Vollink of Overland Park, Kan., and Lea (Jeanie) and her husband, Del Fuelberth of Battle Creek; a stepdaughter, Muraine Hines of Sioux City; a sister, Meta Bartling of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Joe and Scott Vollink, Teresa Reisenauer, Lori Stratton, Steve and Jim Fuelberth; and eight great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Henry Blohm Jr.; and three sisters, Alma Weirhauser, Erna and Alice Blohm. Pallbearers will be Steve and Jim Fuelberth, Joe and Scott Vollink, Terry Bartling and LeRoy Weirhauser. Memorials in her name may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Sunday School programs in South Sioux City or St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Sioux City Journal.com 2001-04-29.
