Description	:	Irene M. Fosness, 85, 307 N. 15th St., died Friday, Jan. 10, at her home of cancer. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Worthie Usher will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. She was born April 10, 1906, in Hendricks, Minn., to John and Hulda Benze Waugh. She graduated from Hendricks High School. She attend Normal School, St. Cloud College and University of Minnesota, and received her masters degree in English and literature at the University of Iowa. She was born April 10, 1906, in Hendricks, Minn., to John and Hulda Benze Waugh. She graduated from Hendricks High School. She taught school in Foley, Lakefield, and Hendricks, Minn.; Felix No. 3, Grundy County; Conrad; eight years at St. Anthony and also served as principal there, and 14 years at LeGrand. She retired in 1970. She and her husband volunteered teaching for four years at Piney Woods, Miss. She married Paul M. Fosness, May 9, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minn. He died in 1975. Mrs. Fosness was a member of the First United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; Daughters of the American Revolution; Iowa State Education Association; Marshalltown Art Association; Marshalltown Federated Women's Club; Marshall County Historical Society; board member of the Marshalltown Community Concert; charter member of the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 681 and has been active in the Democratic party on the local, state and national level. She is survived by one son, Daryl G. Fosness, Marshalltown; two sisters, Perle (Mrs. Leslie) Ralston, Conrad; Eva Stanbrough, Denver, Colo.; and one brother, Virgil Waugh, Hendricks, Minn.
