Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. CDT Monday at Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Irene (Mittelsteadt) Ost was born April 22, 1929, at Krem, to Edward and Otillia (Maas) Mittelsteadt. She attended Elm Grove School and later worked at the local cafe in Hazen. On Dec. 14, 1952, Irene married Willard Ost at Peace Lutheran Church. Together, they farmed from 1952 to 1993, until they moved to Hazen. Irene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting and embroidery. Irene is survived by three sons, Bill (Charlotte), Gerald and Mark (Doreen), all of Hazen; six granddaughters, Amy (Todd) Bosch, Holly (Dominic) Marquart, Kristy (Tyler) Schutt, Jordan Ost, Courtney Ost and Erin Ost; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; five brothers, Albert, Walter (Esther), Paul (Charlene), Roy (Pat) and Gordon (Pat); and two sisters, Alma (Willie) Bier and Esther (Wilmer) Kruckenberg. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; infant son, Allen; her parents; one brother, Melvin; and three sisters, Frieda, Helen and infant Hulda. (Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
