PRITCHARD 1882–1913 (Died in a houseboat fire) ****************** Obituary of IRENE WHITMARSH LIBBY – Irene Whitmarsh, 84, died of natural causes Friday, Dec. 22, at her home in Libby. Born Sept. 19, 1905, in Wales, England, she emigrated to the United States as a small child. She was reared and educated in Vaughn, Wash., and earned a degree in education from Eastern Washington College at Cheney. She taught school at Kettle Fallls, Wash., and later lived in Tacoma, Wash. After settling in Libby in 1950, she taught school for a time in the Yaak area. She and Palmer Gary were married in Washington, and he preceded her in death in 1945. On April 2, 1957, she married Woodrow Whitmarsh in Libby. He died in 1969. Mrs. Whitmarsh was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Libby and the Salvation Army of Tacoma. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Graham, Libby, and Jacquelyn Busler, Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, Dale Gary, Libby, and Don Gary, Santa Barbara, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Vial Funeral Home Chapel in Libby with the Rev. Charles Couch officiating. Burial will be in the City of Libby Cemetery.
