KS and passed away April 14, 1983, at her home in Imperial, at the age of 76 years and 8 days. She attended grade school and high school in Republic, KS. KS and passed away April 14, 1983, at her home in Imperial, at the age of 76 years and 8 days. She attended grade school and high school in Republic, KS. At the age of 14, she joined the United Brethren Church. Irene was united in marriage to Lawrence “Pate” Milner on Feb 23, 1924 at Belleville, KS and to this union 7 children were born. They moved to the rural area in Chase Co. in 1928, where they resided until moving to Imperial in 1954. Irene was engaged in farming interests all of her life. A loving mother and grandmother, one of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren grow and mature. She took a special interest in all of their activities and attended as many as she could. All 5 sons and her 2 sons-in-law served in the armed services. The oldest son was killed in Okinawa during World War II. Irene joined the First United Methodist Church in Imperial in 1958. She also belonged to the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and was recognized as a Gold Star Mother. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, one sister, one son Charles, and a granddaughter. Left to mourn her passing are her sons Robert Dean and his wife, Darlyne of Omaha; Delmer and his wife, Wilma of Haigler; Leonard and wife Effie of San Jose, CA; Ronald and his wife Monna of Imperial; daughters Virginia and her husband, Carl Ridlen of Atlanta, GA; and Viola and her husband Dale Bischoff of Wauneta, 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Lucille Ruma and Alberta Powell, both of Kansas City KS; a brother, Bill J Roberts of Bernardino, CA. Services were held Mon. at the United Methodist Church in Imperial. Escorts were Jerry Milner, Larry Ridlen, Bob Milner, Charles Milner, William Bischoff and Bob Stinson. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
