Description	:	Eutawville - Irene Smoak Davis, of Eutawville, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Orangeburg. She was a strong Christian woman, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt and friend. She was active in Bethel United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She held most offices in the church, and for many years was the Sunday school superintendent and church treasurer. Read More	Eutawville - Irene Smoak Davis, of Eutawville, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Orangeburg. She was a strong Christian woman, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt and friend. She was active in Bethel United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She held most offices in the church, and for many years was the Sunday school superintendent and church treasurer. She retired from the Soil Conservation Service and held many leadership roles in civic organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Family and Community Leaders and the West Middle Community Center. Mrs. Davis is survived by her five children, Rob (Joye) Davis of Charleston, Sam (Nann) Davis of Anderson, Jack (Debbie) Davis of Clemson, Kay (Julian) Barton of Columbia, and Mark Davis of Eutawville, as well as nine grandchildren, Will Davis, Katie (Nick) Schumacher, Lawton (Laura) Davis, Elizabeth (Tim) Rogers, Lyle Davis, Ashlan (Jason) Williamson, Landon (Natalie) Davis, John Davis and Lauren Davis, who will serve as pallbearers. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Davis and Maggie Rogers and Carter Schumacher; and her sister Edith Smoak of St. Simons Island, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Augustus Davis, and her sister, Dee West, of Bowman. Family will receive friends for visitation at her home at 113 Big Dog Lane, Eutawville, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 5. Friends may also call at this address at other times. Services will begin 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 4307 Charleston Hwy., Orangeburg. The family invites you to join them for a reception immediately following the service in the Davis Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2400 Broughton St., Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Linda Ashe, 679 Dusty Road, Cope, SC 29038.
