Description	:	Iris Pauline Manning was born near Friend on September 28, 1908 to Fred and Myrtle (Sanburn) Manning. She passed away July 13, 1991, at the age of 82 years. She had lived in Fairview Manor in Fairmont for the past ten years. She attended rural school near Friend until 1920, when the family moved to Fairmont. She married Emory Boren June 5, 1933,... Read More	Iris Pauline Manning was born near Friend on September 28, 1908 to Fred and Myrtle (Sanburn) Manning. She passed away July 13, 1991, at the age of 82 years. She had lived in Fairview Manor in Fairmont for the past ten years. She attended rural school near Friend until 1920, when the family moved to Fairmont. Iris graduated from Fairmont High School and she taught at a rural school for several years. Around 1921, she joined the Methodist Church in Fairmont and was a long time member. She married Emory Boren June 5, 1933, and they moved to Lincoln where he was employed by Yost Lumber Company. During World War II, they moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where Emory went into defense work. He worked for Metcalf Hamilton, keeping records of the supplies on the Alcan Highway. In 1943, while working at a travel agency, Iris became ill with multiple sclerosis, and they returned to Lincoln. From the onset of her illness, Iris accepted her handicap and was determined to make the best with whatever her future held. Because of her good outlook towards the disease, Iris was able to live longer than most people with the same diagnosis. In 1945, they moved back to Fairmont where Emory worked as a dispatcher for Wayne Harrington. In 1952, Emory and his brother, Bill Boren began operating the G. Kay Truck Line until Emory passed away in 1973. Emory and Iris shared an interest in entering contests, Burma Shave Jingles, etc., and among their many prizes were an automobile, cash and a diamond ring. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister , an infant brother and her husband, Emory. Survivors include her two sisters, Audrey Stewart of Friend and Vivienne Asper of Seattle, Wa.; four nieces and one nephew; four great-nieces and one great-nephew; two great-great-nieces; brother-in-law Bill Boren and two sisters-in-law, Alice Boren and Lorena White; and a host of cousins and friends. Graveside services were held July 17, 1991, at the Fairmont Cemetery, with Dick Bauer, Administrator, officiating.
