Description	:	Irma Alvina Wetzler Wells was born April 23, 1918 in Carlock, South Dakota to Lydia (Layh) and Rudolph Wetzler. Irma was the oldest of eight children born to the union of Lydia and Rudolph. Irma's early life was spent on farms in Northern Nebraska and Southern South Dakota helping with the farm work and carrying for her younger siblings. Irma was the oldest of eight children born to the union of Lydia and Rudolph. Irma's early life was spent on farms in Northern Nebraska and Southern South Dakota helping with the farm work and carrying for her younger siblings. Irma graduated from the eighth grade at the school in Herrick, South Dakota. On September 3, 1944 in South Sioux City Nebraska, she married Frederick Harrison Wells. Four children were born to Fred and Irma's union: Dennis, Donald, Darrel, and Dorene. Irma kept the books and did the administrative work for Fred's trucking business. She taught Sunday School at the O'Neill Assembly of God Church where she was active in The Women's Missionary Council. She delivered for Meals on Wheels and was active in various caregiving activities during her 65 years in O'Neill. Irma lived a life of humble service to her church, family and community. She truly exemplified "it is more blessed to give than to receive." She was one of the quiet people that fulfilled her destiny while asking for nothing in return. She lived what she believed and made the world a better place. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Wells, parents, Lydia and Rudolph Wetzler, one son, Darrel, two brothers, Harold Wetzler, Alfred Wetzler, and two sisters, Leona Faust, and Lorene Jensen.
