Description	:	Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday October 5th at the Assembly of God Church in Gregory starting at 10:30 AM. Committal will follow at the Herrick Cemetery. A prayer service will be held on Monday evening starting at 7:00 PM at Kotrba Funeral Home. Alfred "Dick" Wetzler was born January 5, 1935; the 7th of 8 children in the family of Rudolph and Lydia (Layh) Wetzler. Dick was raised on a farm northeast of Herrick. He also attended school in Herrick, where he played basketball. During this time of his life the family moved to what they considered the "home farm" northeast of Herrick. After Dick completed school he joined his father on the farm for a time and then enlisted in the Navy. Based in the home port of Norfolk, VA; Dick served a four year tour aboard the USS Foreststall, where he toured throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. During this time he enjoyed life to the fullest, some of the great adventures included bull fights in Spain, visit in Cuba and the "City of Love" Paris, France. The love continued back at his home port where he met a beauty who took his heart, Patricia Ann Jenkins. A few short months later they were married on July 2, 1959. Dick and Pat resided in Virginia for a couple of years after serving his country. After the loss of their first daughter(Sherri Lynn) at birth, in 1961 Dick and Pat returned to Herrick, SD to help on the family farm. On the farm Dick and Pat raised their family of four boys and a girl. In the years to come, Dick and Pat continued their faith in God, became good neighbors in the community and in 1977 they moved into Herrick, as Dick continued to operate the home farm. He enjoyed activities like watching boxing and going to auctions; but most importantly he laughed, loved, and lived life to the fullest. He suffered a paralyzing stroke in 2005, confining him to a wheel chair. During the next five years he enjoyed the comfort of his home and the love of his family that cared for him. On September 28, 2010; Dick suffered a final stroke and two days later took the hand of Jesus on October 1st, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Herrick, their children: Lisa (Paul) Ringling of Belle Fourche, SD Richard Wetzler of Creighton, NE – Myron(Lorissa) Wetzler of Rapid City, SD – Cory Wetzler on the home farm and Troy Wetzler at home in Herrick. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren ( Holden, Samantha, Bailey, Andrew, Joelle, Cole, Caitlin, Jett and Jace) and his siblings: Irma (Fred) Wells of O'Neill, NE- Leona Faust of Burke, SD – Laura Odenbach of Billings, MT – Esther and Leonard Krueger of Ft. Collins, CO – and Lela (Allen) Bouslaugh of Gregory, SD and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lydia and Rudolph, one child Sherri, one grandchild Nicolas "Nick", one brother Harold, and one sister Lorene
