Irma Mae had been living in Blackstone so she could be near her husband who is with the United States army and stationed in Virginia. She had just spent the weekend with her husband when the accident occurred. Irma Mae had been living in Blackstone so she could be near her husband who is with the United States army and stationed in Virginia. She had just spent the weekend with her husband when the accident occurred. According to reports reaching this office the accident occurred when the bus in which Mrs. Hartley was riding was ripped open by the blade of a bulldozer which was being carried on a truck. The driver of the truck, a negro, employed by a large construction company, was jailed immediately and his bond set at 5,000. He was jailed on a charge of manslaughter. Mr. Hartley was out on maneuvers at the time of the accident and it was some time before he could be located and the body identified. The body arrived in Lamoni Saturday and services were held from the Lamoni Coliseum on Monday. Irma Mae had lived her entire life here in Lamoni and because of her congenial attitude won for her many, many friends who extend sympathy to the husband and other members of her immediate family. The complete obituary follows: IRMA MAE LYSINGER HARTLEY Irma Mae Lysinger Hartley was born in Lamoni, March 7, 1919, practically all her life was spent in this community. Here she attended the local grade and high schools. She was baptized on June 9, 1929, into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On November 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Chester Hartley of Pattonsburg, Mo. They were married at the Stone church in Independence, MO., by Elder Garland Tickemeyer, pastor. With the exception of periods spent in California and Virginia, their residence has been Lamoni. Last September she joined her husband who was stationed at Camp Pickett, near Blackstone, Va. A week ago Mr. Hartley was assigned to water maneuvers off Norfolk. Mrs. Hartley left Blackstone to join her husband over the weekend. On the return trip, Monday, November 8, during a heavy rainstorm, the Greyhound bus on which she was riding, collided with a projecting blade of a bulldozer which was being carried on a truck. It mowed through one side of the bus causing six deaths and several casualties. The death of Mn. Hartley was Instantaneous. After complications in identification, word was relayed to the husband, then returning from sea duty from Kenbridge, Va., the body was brought back to Lamoni. Surviving are her husband, Chester Hartley, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Lysinger, and her brother, Rolin, of Lamoni; DeWalt, encamped in Oregon; Duane in the navy, and Addison, Ned and Janice Rae at home. Irma Mae will long be remembered for her considerate thoughtfulness and devotion to her parental home and to the husband of her short but happy married life. She will also be thought of as one with a cheery and genial disposition and industrious application to her work. She has left in the full bloom of young womanhood and this will be the picture retained and cherished by those who knew and esteemed her. Funeral services were held from the Lamoni Coliseum Monday afternoon. Roscoe Fauna offered the prayer and Roy A. Cheville delivered the sermon.
