Description	:	Otis Dewalt Lysinger was born July 19, 1880, at Marseilles, Ill. The family moved to a farm near Eagle Grove, Iowa, soon afterward. Then in 1901 the family moved to Lamoni and bought a farm north of town. He was one of Graceland's 50-year alums and he would smile when he compared the college then and the big and different institution of today. Read More	Otis Dewalt Lysinger was born July 19, 1880, at Marseilles, Ill. The family moved to a farm near Eagle Grove, Iowa, soon afterward. Then in 1901 the family moved to Lamoni and bought a farm north of town. He was one of Graceland's 50-year alums and he would smile when he compared the college then and the big and different institution of today. After graduation, Otis entered many fields of endeavor, one of the major ones being the trucking business, and he served as field assessor for a number of years. Then at 98 years of age, he returned to Graceland in the capacity of night watchman, serving there for 12 years until the age of 78, malting a host of new friends with each passing year. Otis was united in marriage to Verde Huntsman and to this union seven children were born, five boys and two girls. One daughter, Erma Mae Hartley, preceded him in death in November 1943. Surviving are his wife Verda; the five sons, Rolin and wife Lillian of Creston, Dewalt and wife Maxine of Sacramento, Calif., Duane and wife Jane of East St. Louis, Ill., Addison of Omaha, Neb., Ned and wife Carol of Sacramento, Calif.; and a daughter, Janice Rae and husband Kenneth Roswell of Humeston, Iowa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Amy Hall of Independence.
