Description	:	Irving Schimke, age 85, of Huron, and formerly of rural Wessington Springs, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Irving Schimke was born on October 11, 1922, in Jerauld County to Solomon and Barbara (Losing) Schimke. He attended Harmony country school and graduated from Alpena High School in 1940. He was confirmed and became a member of New Zion Congregational Church until it closed, after which he became a member of the Templeton Untied Church of Christ. Read More	Irving Schimke, age 85, of Huron, and formerly of rural Wessington Springs, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Irving Schimke was born on October 11, 1922, in Jerauld County to Solomon and Barbara (Losing) Schimke. He attended Harmony country school and graduated from Alpena High School in 1940. He was confirmed and became a member of New Zion Congregational Church until it closed, after which he became a member of the Templeton Untied Church of Christ. On May 29, 1949, Irving married Annette Radke at the Templeton Congregational Church west of Wessington Springs. They farmed on the family farm northwest of Wessington Springs until 1992 after which they retired and moved to Huron. They became members of the Huron Congregation United Church of Christ. Through his life he was an active member in his churches and active with the Jerauld County Farmers Union for several years. He enjoyed reading, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annette of Huron, four children, Sharon (Alan) Anker of Pierre, Steven (Pat) Schimke of Center City, MN, Lynn Schimke of Buford, GA and Faye Schimke of Apple Valley, MN; six grandchildren, John Miller, Kevin Miller, Damon Miller, Nikki Schimke, Adam (Erin) Schimke, Brett Schimke; two step-grandchildren, Belynda (Heath) Hinsch, Jolene Anker; one great-grandchild, Kalea Jo Miller; two step great grandchildren, Dalton Hinsch and Peyton Hinsch; one sister, Violet Pfeifer of Highmore; one brother, Aldon Schimke of Huron; one sister-in-law, Joyce (Bill) Reimer of Wessington Springs; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Melvin Pfeifer and Robert R. Thompson. His funeral service will be Monday, March 3rd, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Huron, with Rev. Brian Grover and Jeff Adel, Interim Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Arrangements are with Welter Funeral Home.
