Mahaska Co. June 18th 1945, aged 87 years. His parents were Charles Ferree of Dauphin Co. Pa. and Lucy Middleton Ferree, a native of Ohio, pioneers in Mahaska Co. and the parents of seven children, of whom Isaac was the fourth. None of the family survives him. Pa. and Lucy Middleton Ferree, a native of Ohio, pioneers in Mahaska Co. and the parents of seven children, of whom Isaac was the fourth. None of the family survives him. On May 17th 1885 he was united in marriage with Miss Annie M. Schwartz who passed away April 25th 1939. Mr. Ferree farmed in this Co. most of his life, except a few years spent in Wisconsin [said Canada; crossed out, and Wisconsin written in above], and for several years had made his home with his Nephew, Cecil Ferree and wife, who gave him filial care. Loss of hearing and other afflictions were his portion in recent years and necessitated much attention on the part of the family. The Ferrees were Methodist people in Pa. One, Uriah Ferree, entered the ministry and previous to the organization of the Iowa Conf.in 1844 was connected with the Rock River Conf. now restricted to Northern Ill. but once including the Ty's of Wisconsin and Iowa, and was sent into the Iowa Ty. and thus became a member of the Iowa Conf. at its first session. Another early day Methodist minister in Iowa was Peter Ferree Holtzinger, (Wife, Mary Ann Housel.) a native of Adams Co. Pa. across the Susq. R. from Dauphin Co. Pa. It was not strange that Isaac early in life received baptism at the hands of the Rev. Wm. Simpson, who was Presiding Elder of the Oskaloosa District and a resident of Oskaloosa. To the end of his life he made God's word his guide-book and gave unquestioned assurance of his faith in Christ. [Hand written at bottom: Lived in Wisconsin 1915-1935]
