Mr. Sigfred graduated from the Springville high school and the Cedar Rapids business college. Mr. Sigfred started in the clothing business in 1895 and in 1902 he became a partner in the firm of Nye, Olney and Sigfred which firm in 1908 became Ed Sigfred Clothing Co. Mr. Sigfred was married on June 16, 1903, at Marion to Miss Alberta Kendall. Mr. Kendall was very active in civic and fraternal activities. He served one term on teh Marion City Council and was a past president of the Marion Community club. He was a member of the First Congregational church of Cedar Rapids. He was a charter member of the Marion Lions club and belonged to Trojan Lodge No. 548, A.F. & A.M.; Marion Chapter No. 10, R.A.M.; Patmos Commandery No. 27, K.T.; El Kahir Shrine and Cedar Rapids Lodge No. 251, B.P.O.E. Surviving him in addition to his wife is a sister, Mrs. Hebert Falknor of Council Bluffs, a brother, Orrie preceded him in death. Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Murdoch Chapel by the Rev. J. Richard Wagner assisted by the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
