EMERSON SMITHSON DIES FROM APOPLEXY--The body of Emerson Smithson, 72, retired carpenter, was found lying across a bed in the home of John Cashman by Mrs. Cashman Tuesday about 4 P.M. Dr. V. E. Hutchens was called and stated death had occurred more than an hour previous to the finding of the body. Smithson was born and reared in Clinton County near Farmers Station, removing to Dayton where he followed the carpenter trade for many years. Following the death of his wife, he removed to Farmers Station where he maintained a home with the aid of his grandson, Walter Smithson. Three weeks ago he was taken to Hale Hospital to undergo treatment for complication of diseases, later being removed to the home of his nephew, John Cashman. Mrs. Cashman, who had been attending her uncle since he had been in her home, stated she had given him a drink of water more than an hour previous to the finding of his body and was on her way to attend him when she discovered the fatality. Death was attributed to a stroke of apoplexy. Surviving are two sons, Scott Smithson, Dayton, and Fred Smithson, whose address is not known and his nephew and niece Mr. and Mrs. John Cashman. Funeral services in charge of Rev. A. H. Wilson will be held in the Holladay Funeral Home, Friday at 10 A.M. Burial will be made in New Vienna cemetery.
