His had been a brave, patient struggle to win back the health he had always enjoyed. Never a murmur escaped his lips during his long illness. In fact, he was always ready with a smile, a word of cheer, or some merry joke for his friends, who always were the one most benefitted by a visit in his sick room. They always left felling refreshed and strengthened to meet their own problems. There had never been a day when he failed to have some token in flowers or plants from his friends in his sick room. I. H. Morse was born Jan. 19, 1855, in Derby, Vt. to Mr. and Mrs. Issac Morse and when but three years of age came with his parents to Osage. Here for a little over sixty-six years he has been a part of all that is best in the building up of a community of this highest type. He was educated in our public schools and was one of the early students in the old Cedar Valley seminary. He was one of the promoters and organizers of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. and for years served as secretary. His father conducted a general store here in an early day and his uncle, Peter Morse, owned a drugstore where the Wm. Woods hospital building now stands; so the name of Morse stood for much in the upbuilding of this city in an early day and has always been honored and respected. Mr. Morse joined the Universalist Church early in life and was also a charter member of the Osage Modern Woodmen and Masonic Lodges. On his twentieth birthday, Jan. 19, 1875, he was united in marriage with Miss Olive Trowbridge and together they have traveled life's pathway, loyal and devoted for a little more than forty-nine years. Three children came to bless this union; Warren Morse, a successful attorney in Estherville; Albert, one of Mitchell county's worthy farmers and Lois the wife of Geo. Wolff of Little Cedar all of whom, with the mother and their foster daughter, Mrs Wm. H. Salisbury, who made her home with them from early girlhood until her marriage, have been untiring in their ministrations to their loved one. Mr Morse also leaves to mourn his departure eight grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted at the home last Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock by Rev. W. T. Smith of the Methodist church and Rev. Osten-Saken of the Universalist church. The Masonic lodge had charge of the services at the grave, interment being in Osage Cemetery. ******************************************
