Description	:	Judge Mitchel died on Saturday morning about half past four. He had been ill for some time, and gradually wasting away with the dread disease consumption, but it was not generally known that he was in danger, or dissolution was so near. Read More	Judge Mitchel died on Saturday morning about half past four. He had been ill for some time, and gradually wasting away with the dread disease consumption, but it was not generally known that he was in danger, or dissolution was so near. Until last week his friends and acquaintances thought he was only suffering from a severe cold, and would soon be able to attend to business again. The early part of the week it was reported he was at death's door, and his decease occurred as above stated, at the residence of his son in law, W.B. Means, at which place the funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, and were attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives. Isaac J. Mitchel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, May 31, 1829, and was consequently 53 years old at the time of his death. While young his parents moved to Clay County, Indiana, from whence he came to Iowa, settling down in Boonsboro long before the days of railroads in this region. He resided in Boonsboro about twenty five years, and was one of the oldest citizens of this county. His parents were poor, and he was thrown on his own resources for an education, but by study and application became a well-educated and well informed man, his only drawback being ill health, having suffered from consumption since he was 20 years old. As a resident of Boone County he was always a prominent citizen, and interested in almost every enterprise for the benefit of Boonsboro. A number of years ago, about six, we believe, he moved to Boone, and lived here ever since. He was always more or less identified with politics and has held several public positions, being at one time a member of the state board of education, later senator from this district, and last district judge, holding this position until five years ago, since which time his health has been so poor that he has been unable to attend to active business with his accustomed energy. Jude Mitchel was a genial, pleasant gentleman, and leaves many friends to regret his early death.
