Description	:	I N Covault of Malcom Passes (From the Montezuma Republican) Funeral Services were said over the body of I N Covault of Malcom Monday afternoon, from the Methodist Church at two o'clock, by the Rev J B Decker, pastor of the church. Mr Covault passed away early Thursday morning at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs Eve Covault, in Malcom. Read More	I N Covault of Malcom Passes (From the Montezuma Republican) Funeral Services were said over the body of I N Covault of Malcom Monday afternoon, from the Methodist Church at two o'clock, by the Rev J B Decker, pastor of the church. Mr Covault passed away early Thursday morning at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs Eve Covault, in Malcom. He has been ailing for some time with heart trouble, but was able to be out and around town shortly before his death. He was 79 years of age. Music at the services was by Mrs Charles Gorsuch, who sang :no Night There" and "Perfect Day". Miss Alice Underwood was at the organ. Pall bearers were Charles Gorsuch, WIll McKee, J W H Vest, Arthur Dryden, I E Thorn and Sid Wheeler. Interment was by the side of his wife in the local cemetery. The following obituary was read at the funeral: I N Covault was born near Fletcher, Miami County, Ohio Dec 13 1853 living there until young manhood. He came to Poweshiek county in 1876, when about 23 years of age and for many years made his home here. He married Katherine Jones in Jan 1880 and lived happily on the farm to which he took his bride, for 28 years. IN 1906 he moved with his family to Colorado, f r Mrs Covault's health. She passed away Aug 24 1907 in Ft Collins, County. To this union six children were born. Two, Elsie, at the age of 15 months, and Wilbur 13 years preceded him to the heavenly home. Mrs Verna Dryden of Wendall, Idaho, Mrs Elpha Hunt of Twin Falls Idaho, Lee Covault of Grinnell, and Dr Willard Covault of Ventura CA, are left to mourn the passing of one who has been both father and mother to them for so many years. He also leaves nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, who were greatly beloved by Mr Covault. He came from a family of eleven children, five boys and six girls of whom two boys and three girls are still living. After the death of his wife, Mr Covault lived on a farm near Malcolm until 1916 , with his son Willard, selling it at that time and going to Long Beach Calif. He spent the winters there and his summers with his children in Idaho and Iowa. Mr Covault has been on of the substantial citizens of Poweshiek county. He was ever a Christian gentleman and his advice was often sought and freely given. He was superintendent of his home Sunday School in Ohio when he was but 17 years of age, and joined the M E Church in Montezuma under the pastorate of Rev Lambert and remaining faithful to his beloved church. He spoke to often of the Sunday School and when able always attended. He lived long and well, being at the time of his death 79 years 5 months of age. He was in failing health the last year, and in January had a bad attack of the flu from which he never recovered. He died at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs Eva Covault in Malcolm, whose loving ministrations and those of his granddaughters made his last days so comfortable and happy. He lived well and his passing will be greatly mourned by his devoted children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and many friends in this community. Mr Covault was a member of the IOOF Lodge for many years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Montezuma. Rev J S Decker officiating. Music at the services was by Mrs Charles Gorsuch who sang "no Night There" and "Perfect Day." .
