Burial was in Washington cemetery at Havelock with Hitchcock funeral home of Laurens in charge. Isaac Roberts, Jr. was born Oct. 2, 1788(?err), on a farm near Bonaparte. On Dec. 13, 1908, he married Elsie Wallingford of Bonaparte, who died a number of years ago. They were the parents of two children, a daughter Alice and a son Nelson. For a time Mr. Roberts taught school in Van Buren county, and also in the state of Washington. Later he operated a farm near Bonaparte. In 1912 he entered government service as a rural mail carrier. In 1937 he transferred to Havelock, serving as mail carrier in this community until his retirement in 1948 after 36 years of service. On June 22, 1941, he was united in marriage to Irene M. Hauswirth of Havelock. He was a member of the Methodist church and was active in Masonry and the Eastern Star. He attained the 32nd degree in the Order of the Scottish Rite and Royal Arch Masonry. Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, Nelson Roberts of Roseville, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Hill of Kansas City, Mo.; and three grandchildren. Source: Van Buren Co.
