She was married to Leopold Fessler, January 16, 1873 and to that union were born four daughters and three sons, namely, Mrs. J.C. Erhard, Mrs. Perie Kaufman, Mrs. E.C. She was married to Leopold Fessler, January 16, 1873 and to that union were born four daughters and three sons, namely, Mrs. J.C. Erhard, Mrs. Perie Kaufman, Mrs. E.C. Gavitt and Mrs. Ralph Parris, Arthur and Frank who passed away a year ago and little Carl who died in childhood. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond December 22, 1920. She was converted at the early age of thirteen and has been an active member of the M.E. church of Newton over forty three years, joining by letter, February 28,1881. She came to Newton in 1877 and other members of her family who had preceded her to the little frontier town were Mr. and Mrs. D.N. Garten, Mr. and Mrs. D. Epple and her mother Matilda Garten. She loved her neighbors and friends and was a very hospitable woman. She was never to happy as when she had dining table extended to full length and surrounded by her friends; and these friends and the friends of her children have many fond memories of the pleasant hours spent in the Fessler home. With the passing of Mrs. Fessler the local church loses another on of the older members who helped build the little church of pioneer days, to the church which is in Newton today. The funeral service was held at her late home on East Fourth street this morning with Rev. D.H. Switzer, pastor of the First Methodist church in charge of the service. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery by the side of her beloved husband.
