Barkley, Yoba City, California, Wednesday March 8th, at 2:45 a. m., at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 6 days. Isabella Grantham was born in Billsboro, Illinois, April 2nd, 1841. At the age of 15 she removed with her parents to Gentry county, Mo., where she was united in marriage to Enoch P. Barkley, November 16th, 1862. To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, L. E. Barkley of Alva, Okla., J. E. Barkley of Yoba City, California, Charles Barkley of Glenn, California, Mrs. E. U. Anderson of Alva, Okla., Mrs. A. S. Foster of Harper, Kansas, and Mrs. J. B. Hill of Vernon, Kansas, one brother Enoch H. Grantham of Albany, Mo., thirty-six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In 1879 Mr. Barkley with his family removed from Missouri to Ellsworth county, Kansas. They removed to Oklahoma 1894, locating on a school quarter southeast of Kiowa. After the children were all married, Mr. and Mrs. Barkley removed to Kiowa, Kansas, in 1902. Mr. Barkley died in this city May 25th, 1912. Mrs. Barkley made her home here until November 2nd, 1915. On account of failing health she was persuaded by her two sons living in California to try the climate on the Coast, her physician also recommending the change. Her children were hopeful but careful nursing and good medical aid could not restore her health. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Monday afternoon, Rev. E. N. Cunningham having charge of the services. Interment was made in Riverview cemetery and the remains were laid to rest at the side of her husband.
