Description	:	MRS. JACOB SILK: A well known and respected resident of this district, Mrs. Jacob Silk, passed away very suddenly in the early hours of May 13, 1959, in her 80th year. She had been active to the last and it came as a shock to her family and her many friends. Born in Mulmur Township, a daughter of the late Robert and Jane Shaw, she received her schooling in the Terra Nova district. JACOB SILK: A well known and respected resident of this district, Mrs. Jacob Silk, passed away very suddenly in the early hours of May 13, 1959, in her 80th year. She had been active to the last and it came as a shock to her family and her many friends. Born in Mulmur Township, a daughter of the late Robert and Jane Shaw, she received her schooling in the Terra Nova district. She was married to Jacob Silk, of Melancthon Township, where they farmer a number of years. Her husband predeceased her in 1943 and since then she had resided with her son Bert on the farm. She was an active member of Silk's Ruth Sayre Women's Institute for some years. She is survived by her sons, Fred, of Orangeville, and Bert, on the home place; also two sisters, Mrs. George Fraser, sr., of Horning's Mills, and Mrs. J. Winker, of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Service was held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Friday, May 15th, and was conducted by Rev. R. P. Bates. Interment was made in Shelburne Cemetery. The flowers sent in loving memory of Mrs. Silk indicated the high esteem in which she was held. They were carried by seven nephews - Norton, Clifford, Harve and Rae Fraser, Don Snider, James Stewart and Archie Carroll. Pallbearers were close neighbors - Fraser, Ramage, Elwood Arnold, James Montgomery, Charels Firth, Truman Thompson and Rae Lyon.
