JAMES LAW: On Tuesday, December 16th, Mono township lost another old and greatly respected resident in the person of Isabella Thompson, beloved wife of James Law, who passed away at her home o lot 28, con. 2, east, in her 74th year. Mrs. Law was the second daughter of the late Joseph Thompson and Isabella Rutherford, who were among the early pioneers of Mono. In 1899 she married James Law and settled as a bride on lot 29, con. 3, east, Mono, where she and her husband lived until 1921, when Mr. Law purchased the farm then owned by the late James Halbert. Mrs. Law was a splendid helpmate on the farm and discharged her household duties most adequately up to August of the present year. She was a staunch Anglican and seldom missed a service of her church unless illness prevented her. She was a member of St. Matthew's church, Mono. She loved her church and always joined wholeheartedly in divine service. She was a good neighbor, who was always ready and willing to help those less fortunate then herself. The funeral was held from her late home to Shelburne cemetery on Thursday afternoon, December 17th. The service was in charge of Rev. J. H. Pogson, rector of St. Paul's church, Shelburne, who was assisted by the Rev. Robt. G. Halbert, of Mono Mills, who spoke feelingly of the goof qualities of the departed woman as a former neighbor and a lifelong personal friend of the family. Mrs. Law is survived by her sorrowing husband and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Law (Margaret Jane), Mono Centre, the last surviving member of a family of nine brothers and sisters. There was also one child who died in early infancy. The remains were borne to their last resting place by Messrs. Herb Fines, John Fines, Albert Horner, Don Allison, Fred Wells and Britton Armstrong. The flowerbearers were Ralph Fines, Warren Fines, Hector MacKenzie, grand nephews, and Claude Hale, a nephew from Rosemont. Friends were present from Toronto, Orangeville, Shelburne, Mono Mills and other outside points She's away, away; no more shall we hear The sound of her footsteps to greet us again; But sweet consolation, her spirit's above, Where all is contentment and freedom from pain.
