Description	:	Mrs. Iva Jean Meta Marie Kuhse Coobs, 84, of Burlington died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 11, 1926 in Postville, she was the daughter of William J. and Elta Saueresig Kuhse. On August 21, 1946 she married Robert Harold Coobs in Monona. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2005. Read More	Mrs. Iva Jean Meta Marie Kuhse Coobs, 84, of Burlington died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 11, 1926 in Postville, she was the daughter of William J. and Elta Saueresig Kuhse. On August 21, 1946 she married Robert Harold Coobs in Monona. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2005. Mrs. Coobs was a 1943 graduate of Monona High School. She attended Luther College, Upper Iowa University, S. E. Iowa Area Community College and received her bachelor's degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. She began her teaching career at rural schools near Froelich and Fayette City before moving to Burlington and teaching at both Grimes and Salter schools from 1974 until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Coobs was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was active in Miriam Circle, Choir, WELCA, Trivent, altar guild and was an offering counter every Monday. She was also a member of Good Neighbors Travel Club and Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, baking and her church activities. Survivors include two daughters, Carole (Ron) Pinney of Winfield, Janet Courtney of Burlington; one son, Alan (Sonya) Coobs of Clive; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her parents, husband and one sister preceded her in death. Visitation will be from noon until 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 7th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Coobs will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8th, in Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. Leroy Bradway will officiate. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Keokuk National Cemetery. The procession will leave from Bethany Lutheran Church at 12:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and Bethany Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
