Read More	Obituary that appeared in the Adair County Free Press, June 30, 1927 The community was deeply grieved to hear the death of Ivan Hartford Green, 12 year old, the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Green, which occurred Sunday morning at the home three miles northwest of town. Ivan was taken sick on the previous Sunday, but took part in the Sunday school program at the Congregational church that evening. The next day his condition became worse and an operation for appendicitis was preformed Tuesday afternoon. As the appendix was ruptured before the operation his condition was critical. For several days he seemed to be recovering satisfactorily, but became worse Saturday and it was realized he could not recover. Ivan was born May 10, 1915, on the farm where he lived all his life. He and his brother Arthur started to school at Jackson township school No. 1 in the spring of 1920, but after a week was compelled to give up school on account of scarlet fever. He was an excellent student and very ambitious to progress in his schoolwork. He had planned to accomplish two years of schoolwork during this summer and the next school year in order to enter high school with his brother. He was baptized December 9, 1926, by the Rev. Owen Thomas and has ever been faithful to the Sunday school. Only last Sunday he was presented with an honor pin by the superintendent for six months perfect attendance. Ivan was of an affectionate nature and was beloved by all who knew him, always showing respect to those older than himself and ever ready to be helpful to them. His untimely death is greatly mourned and the bereaved family have the deepest sympathy of everyone. He is survived by his parents and brother Arthur. The funeral service was held in the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and was conducted by the Rev. Owen Thomas. Hymns were sung by a quartet. The church was filled with mourning friends and as many more stood outside. Many beautiful flowers attested the love and sympathy of friends. The body was laid to rest in the Fontanelle cemetery.
