Description	:	Ivan L. Hinshaw, 90, of 500 1st St. N. died of heart and kidney failure Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. David Wendell officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. The son of H. E. and Daisy (Frost) Hinshaw, he was born Nov. 18, 1911, in rural Newton. He was a 1930 graduate of Newton Senior High School and on June 16, 1930, he married Colene Southern in Mingo. He lived on the Hinshaw family farm in rural Newton all his life, until moving to Park Center in December 2001. He retired from farming in 1976. Mr. Hinshaw was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Newton Lodge No. 59 A.F./A.M., Newton Chapter No. 100 of the Order of Eastern Star, Jasper County Farm Bureau, Jasper County Historical Society, Elks Lodge 1270, the Newton High School Alumni Association and a lifetime member of Amboy Grange. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Bill Hart of Polk City and Peggy and Jim Milburn of Whittier, Calif.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
