Read More	Joan June Hart, the daughter of Ivan and Colene (Southern) Hinshaw, was born on February 11, 1935 in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. Joan was united in marriage to William "Bill" Hart on June 14, 1953 in Newton. She worked as an Office Assistant for Super Valu. Bill and Joan lived in Polk City, Iowa for many years. Joan was a member of the Polk City United Methodist Church and Friends of the Polk City Library. She also faithfully volunteered at the St. Luke's free clinic since 2003 and served as treasurer of the United Methodist Women for many years. Joan liked knitting, reading, feeding birds, and working in her yard and garden. She also enjoyed her monthly lunches with her Newton Class of '53. Joan died at the age of 82 on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill. Joan is survived by her sister, Peggy Milburn of Whittier, California; two nieces, Barbara (Jon) Strayer of Yorba Linda, California and Brenda (David) Alban of Thousand Oaks, California; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; her two great-great-nephews; and numerous honorary grandchildren.
