Tankersley, 83, husband of Ferol Haney Tankersley of 201 Church St., Buffalo, died Friday, June 16, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Mr. Tankersley was born in Lee County, Va., Jan. 11, 1926, a son of the late Charlie Tankersley and Arizona Fleener Tankersley. He retired from United Merchants- Buffalo Plant; a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mr. Tankersley was an avid gardner who took great pride and joy in his garden. Mr. Tankersley was born in Lee County, Va., Jan. 11, 1926, a son of the late Charlie Tankersley and Arizona Fleener Tankersley. He retired from United Merchants- Buffalo Plant; a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mr. Tankersley was an avid gardner who took great pride and joy in his garden. He was first married to the late Sarah O'Shields Tankersley. Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Ruth Threll of Rupert, Idaho; three brothers, Howard Tankersley of Colorado, Dale R. Tankersley of Boise, Idaho, and Lloyd Tankersley of Idaho; a step-son, Barry Haney and wife Susan of Buffalo; four step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tim Anderson and the Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Putman Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Felston Ridings, Mark Shetley, Douglas Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Carroll Upton and Joey Riddle. Visitation will be held from 2-3:45 p.m. in the church prior to the service. The family is at the home, 201 Church St., Buffalo, SC 29321.
