Description	:	BUFFALO — Sara O'Shields Tankersley, 79, wife of J.R. Tankersley of 229 South St., Buffalo, died at Wallace Thomson Hospital Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006. Mrs. Tankersley was born in Buffalo, May 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Monroe and Augusta Smith O'Shields. She was retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Mildred Fleming of Union; a brother, Earl O'Shields of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, May Puckett, Janise Sanders, Susan Turner and Sue Barnett.... Mrs. Tankersley was born in Buffalo, May 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Monroe and Augusta Smith O'Shields. She was retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Mildred Fleming of Union; a brother, Earl O'Shields of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, May Puckett, Janise Sanders, Susan Turner and Sue Barnett. Mrs. Tankersley was predeceased by three sisters, Ilar, Tavia and Daisy and three brothers, Pete, Jim and Gus O'Shields. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Putman Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Tillman, the Rev. Johnny Burgess, and the Rev. Dr. Ted Hodge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Simmons, Jimmy Johnson, Felston Ridgings, (Mack) Marion Elliott, Doug Johnson and Harry Moore. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to form the honorary escort: Don Puckett and Wayne Barnett. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 this evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Putman Baptist Church, 3692 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Buffalo, S.C., 29321.
