Read More	Jack Edward (Bull) Rice ( February 19, 1938 - February 15, 2022 ) Jack Rice Gaffney, SC - - Four days shy of his 84th birthday, Jack Edward (Bull) Rice, 83, of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the dedicated and loving husband of Janice Nash Rice for nearly 33 years and the son of the late Ralph Cephus (Jack) Rice and Laura Jeanette Elmore Rice. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and was retired from Monsanto Industry and the gaming and amusement business. He was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Sprouse Sunday School Class and he attended regularly until his failing health. Surviving along with his beloved wife Janice are two daughters, Carole and husband Troy Hill of Church Hill, Tennessee and Nicole Tallon of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Nolan Ryan Hill and his wife, Savanah, T. J. Hill, Anna Kate Tallon and Mia Claire Tallon; a brother, Billy Ray Rice and his wife Becky, who were always there when called upon to help, a sister-in-law Betty Rice, all of Gaffney, and a vast number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, T. W. Rice (infant) and Harold Dean Rice and three sisters, Evelyn Louise Rice (infant), Faye Rice Frady and Brenda Rice Jolly and his mother-in-law, Blanche D. Kiser who loved him like a son. He loved the Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves and in his younger years he played in many fast pitch softball games with several textile teams as shortstop. He was inducted into the Cherokee County Old Timers Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 2002. He served on the founding board of the Cherokee Parks and Recreational District and for many years thereafter. He also served for a short time with the Grassy Pond Volunteer Fire Department. Jack was a member of the Elks Lodge #1305 and was a former member of the Lanyair Country Club and The Creek in Spartanburg and Cherokee National and the Gaffney Country Clubs. He was an avid golfer and won many tournaments throughout the State and Florida. His favorite time in life was the five years he and Janice lived in Florida where he taught her to love and play the game as well. Jack loved to plant his garden each year and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends. When his health began to decline, his brother was a big help and eventually had to take over. Jack was a loving, kind and generous man who loved his family more than anything in this world. He loved his many friends who kept a constant check on him, but most of all he loved his private time with Janice. As his health became an issue, she became his primary caregiver and she did so with much patience, devotion and love. She was holding his hand as he breathed his last and the angels took part of her heart along with him. He always bore his health issues with dignity and good humor. Jack leaves an unimaginable void in our lives that can never ever be filled. He was a very special man. Visitation will be at Blakely Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, February 18, 2022 with services following in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend David Nichols and Mr. Ashby Blakely will officiate. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens.
