Description	:	Jack Junior Black September 1925 to January 2015 Jack J. Black long time lower valley resident passed away on January 14, 2015. Jack was born in Red Oak, Iowa on September 20 1925. He spent his early childhood in Red Oak until he and his family moved to the lower Yakima Valley, locating in Outlook In the spring of 1936. After a few years the family moved to Grandview. Read More	Jack Junior Black September 1925 to January 2015 Jack J. Black long time lower valley resident passed away on January 14, 2015. Jack was born in Red Oak, Iowa on September 20 1925. He spent his early childhood in Red Oak until he and his family moved to the lower Yakima Valley, locating in Outlook In the spring of 1936. After a few years the family moved to Grandview. Jack joined the USN in the fall of 1942 after graduating from Grandview High School. He went on to serve in the South Pacific on the USS Rio Grande for three years until he return home in the summer of 1945. Upon returning home from the war he met and married the love of his life Mentha Comstock in January of 1946. They both work with his father at Black’s corner while starting a family and completing his accounting degree from La Salle University. In 1950 Jack started work at Yakima Cement Products in the office and later after completing courses he went on to designing irrigation systems for valley farms. In the mid-sixties he went to work for Sunnyside Concrete until they closed. In the early seventies he started working at Blyel’s farm service designing irrigation systems and after a few years accepted the position as accounting controller which he held until he retired at age 63. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, two sisters and his parents. He is survived by a daughter Janice Bender of Grandview and a son Wayne Black of Vancouver, WA. He has four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the Lower Valley Gardens Cemetery in Sunnyside on Friday January 23rd at 2:00 PM.
