He married Lue Etta Hamann on July 26, 1947 in Laramie, Wyoming. He was President of J. L. Peters Construction Company, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of New Horizon Presbyterian Church, Bluff City Lodge No. 71, American Legion Post No. 2, and the Council Bluffs Rifle and Pistol Club. Surviving are his wife, Lue, a resident of Bethany Lutheran Home; two sons, Dr. Mark L. (Cheri) Peters of Castle Rock, CO, and David J. (Mary) Peters of Council Bluffs.
