Description	:	He died at the Laurel Care Center. He was a son of Henry and Mary Leichner Batt. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1903 and settled in Lincoln, NE. He moved to Worden in 1911 and married Augusta Propp on Nov. 30, 1919. He worked in a grocery store in Worden before moving to Billings in 1925. They moved to Laurel in 1930. He moved to Worden in 1911 and married Augusta Propp on Nov. 30, 1919. He worked in a grocery store in Worden before moving to Billings in 1925. They moved to Laurel in 1930. Jacob retired as manager of the Laurel Safeway Store in 1955. Following retirement, he sold his investments and worked during the summers at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone Park. He was known for the flies he tied and sold at the Fishing Bridge Store. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Jacob and Augusta celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1969. Augusta died in 1971. Jacob married Elma Michaelis in 1972. Jacob was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Laurel, where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Augusta; and brothers, George and John Batt. Survivors included his wife, Elma; three daughters, Esther (Jake) Frank of Park City, Lillian (Herman) Sorg of Columbus, Laura (David) Frank of Laurel; step-children, Marge (Red) Berger of Huntley, Harry (Donna) Michaelis of Billings; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
