Description	:	OBIT: Jacob E. Rego, 87, one of the oldest remaining Kittitas Valley pioneers, died in a hospital here early today following a short illness. A member of a prominent early day family in this valley, Rego had lived in the valley 70 years. He came here in 1874 with his parents, who came across the continent by covered wagon. Born in Missouri on November 24, 1856, he was the son of John B. and Kathren B. Rego. A member of a prominent early day family in this valley, Rego had lived in the valley 70 years. He came here in 1874 with his parents, who came across the continent by covered wagon. Born in Missouri on November 24, 1856, he was the son of John B. and Kathren B. Rego. He received his early education in the district school in northern Missouri and was 17 years old when his parents came west. He worked on his father's farm, attending school, including Whitman College, until he was 22, when he stated out on his own. Nine years after coming west he returned to Missouri to marry Miss Emma I. Ross. He and his bride returned to his farm here, coming via railroad and stage to The Dalles, Ore., where they were met by teams and escorted to the valley. Rego operated a large hay and livestock farm on the West Side. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ross Mason, Mrs. A. E. Kennedy and Mrs. Calvin Gardinier, all of Ellensburg, and Mrs. James Small of Hermosa Beach, Cal.; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
