He had been ill for less than a week with pneumonia. Mr. Etten was born in Berne, Switzerland, August 7, 1835. He was therefore 84 years, 10 months and 16 days of age at the time of his decease. Read More	Source: Monticello Express, June 24, 1920 Jacob Etten Born 7 August 1835 Jacob Etten, an aged and respected citizen of Lovell township, died at his home yesterday afternoon at 5:25 pm. He had been ill for less than a week with pneumonia. Mr. Etten was born in Berne, Switzerland, August 7, 1835. He was therefore 84 years, 10 months and 16 days of age at the time of his decease. He immigrated to the United States in the year, 1865, and has lived near Monticello ever since that time. He was married to Madeline Beyeler in 1873. There were born to this union 10 children, nine of whom survive. The children surviving are as follows: Mrs. John Moore of Foxhome, Minnesota: John Etten of Foxhome, MN; Mrs. Andrew Ambuehl of Almyra, Arkansas; Mrs. Walter Hall, Mrs. Henry Paulsen, Jacob Etten, Alfred Etten, Charles and Fred Etten, all of Monticello. The deceased is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and one brother and two sisters. The brother and sisters are residents of Switzerland. The funeral services will be held next Sunday morning at the Etten home at 10:30 o'clock, and at 11 o'clock at the Reformed church in Monticello, Rev. R P Kunetzer, the pastor of that church will have charge of the services.
