Born Jan 5, 1889 near Monticello, Mrs. Ambuehl was the daughter of Jacob and Madeline Beyler Etten. She was educated in the rural schools of Jones County. She was married to Andrew Ambuehl of Monticello, April 14, 1909. They made the Monticello community their home with the exception of three years spent in Arkansas. Besides her husband, who died March 24, 1941, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Iola Hoffman, her parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include a son, LaVerne Ambuehl, Denver Colo.; six daughters ; Mrs. Paul ( Mildred) Brewer of Napa, Calif., Mrs. George (Erma) Eby of Hawthorne, Calif., Mrs. Mitchell ( Edna) Rebich of Hayward, Calif., Mrs. Irvin ( Ruby) Toenjes of Monticello, Mrs. Donald ( Joyce) Robertson of Anamosa, Mrs. Robert ( Patsy) Rhatigan of Marion. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; four brothers, Jake and Charles Etten, both of Monticello, Alfred Etten of Anamosa, John Etten of Fergus Falls Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Hall, Monticello, and Mrs. Emma Moore, Foxhome, Minn. Pallbearers included John Hoffman, Jerry Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, Douglas Toenjes, Thomas Streets and Gordon Reese.
