Description	:	At 1:45 o'clock this morning occurred the death of Jacob Fisch, one of the oldest settlers of this county and one of the city's pioneer merchants, at his home, corner Fourth and Sycamore streets. WAS WELL KNOWN HERE Mr. Fisch was a man who had the respect of everyone who knew him, and enjoyed a reputation for his honest and upright dealings, both in private and business life. His death will be a great loss to the business interests of this city. Mr. Fisch was born November 23, 1835, at Melscher Hausen, Germany, and came to America at the age of eight years with his parents in 1843, locating at Muscatine, where he had continued to reside ever since. Being left an orphan when but 16 years of age, he was thrown entirely upon his own resources and how well he had succeeded in life is known by every one in this community. He engaged in business for himself in 1868, which business he continued to look after until 1890, when he retired, and was succeeded by his three sons. On October 22, 1856, he was united in marriage to Martha Hucke, who with their three sons and two daughters survive, they being Charles A., Henry W., George B., Mrs. T. W. Cherry, and Mrs. David Bogard, all residing in this city. He also leaves one brother, Michael Fisch, residing at Keswick, Ia. Mr. Fisch had been a prominent Mason and Knight Templar for many years.
