He was an old-timer and owned a ranch and mining property. Sheridan post, G.A.R. will conduct the funeral --------------------------------------------------------- Great Falls Tribune (MT), 20 July 1889 The last tribute of affection and respect was paid today to the remains of Jacob H. Seifred. The funeral service was conducted in the Methodist church by Rev. Messrs. Riggin and Van Orsdel. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mrs. Brundage. Mr. Riggin took as his text: "I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith." He spoke in simple and expressive terms of Mr. Seifred's honorable career and religious zeal. Mr. Van Orsdel also spoke with much feeling of his deceased friend. After friends had looked for the last time on the face of the war veteran and good citizen, a massive coffin containing the remains was placed on Albrecht's wagon and conveyed to Highland cemetery where the interment took place in the presence of many people. Among the many veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic who attended the funeral were John Andrews, Sam Dean, William Mitchell, J.M. Powers, George Armstrong, D. Fisher, J. Tannhauser, F.G. Heldt, Charles Taylor and W.T. Wetzel.
