Resident of Fort Benton for Over 50 Years Passed to the Great Beyond The community was grieved to learn that Mrs. John W. Tattan had passed away at St. Clare hospital on last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Tattan had been in very poor health for the past six weeks, and was taken to the hospital only a few days after they had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary here on April 11th and had been at the hospital since that time. Mrs. Tattan came to Fort Benton on the steamer Nellie Peck in the summer of 1875 and the following year was married to John W. Tattan. To Mr. and Mrs. Tattan were born two children, John J. Tattan of Glasgow, Mont., and Mrs. C. W. Morrison, who died in 1922. It is seldom that one lives in any community for a period of 50 years, but to do so and still have the love and respect of the entire community is indeed the finest tribute that can be paid to anyone. Over fifty automobiles made the trip to Riverside cemetery, the last resting place of their departed neighbor and friend. In addition to the husband and son, Mrs. Tattan leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those attending the service from outside of the city were John J. Tattan of Glasgow; Will Seifert, of Geyser, brother; Mrs. Ada Travis of Shelby, sister; Mr. and Mrs. William Gast of Shelby, niece and nephew; Mr. and Mrs. John Seifert of Browning; nephew and niece; and Dr. Hoyt of Glasgow. The funeral services were held at the home under the direction of Mrs. Louther, the services being conducted by Father Finucane, of the Catholic church. The pallbearers were: Joseph Sullivan, J. S. Brown, Ed Feltman, C. H. Ragland, James Bartley and H. Labarre, all old time friends of Mrs. Tattman. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to Judge Tattan and family in this their bereavement.
