Description	:	Jake J. Schwengler, 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away November 22, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Jake was born March 1, 1930 to Adam and Elizabeth (Messer) Schwengler on a farm near Solen, ND. He attended school there and worked nearby before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1956. Read More	Jake J. Schwengler, 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away November 22, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Jake was born March 1, 1930 to Adam and Elizabeth (Messer) Schwengler on a farm near Solen, ND. He attended school there and worked nearby before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1956. Jake served during the Korean Conflict, was stationed throughout the U.S., and employed in various capacities. He settled in Fargo in 1960 when he began work for the North Dakota Air National Guard, where he remained for the balance of his career. In that time, Jake mentored numerous guardsman and made many life-long friends. He retired in 1988 with a rank of Senior Master Sergeant. In 1961, Jake married JoAnn Hoepfner and the two shared an amazing 51-year relationship, which included travel, sporting events, and of course, their beloved children and grandchildren. Over the years, Jake enjoyed many activities and hobbies. He loved hunting, fishing, sports, and playing cards; he participated in bowling and softball leagues, as well as being an avid reader of Westerns and mysteries, and a conqueror crossword puzzles. Jake is survived by his wife JoAnn; one daughter, Jacqueline of New York City; two sons, Jeff of Anchorage, and Jason (Marijo) of Fargo; seven grandchildren, Caleah, Marydis, Chandron, Jacob, Andrew, Simon, and David; three sisters, Josie, Betty, and Alice, and two brothers, Gene and Bill. He was preceded in death by daughter Jolonda Ann; parents Adam and Elizabeth Schwengler; sisters Rose and Marge; and brothers Tony, Adam, Stanley, Louie, and Pete. Jake was loved by his family, who will always remember his sense of humor and easy-going nature. Gathering: Gathering from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. and also on Tuesday, 1-2:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
