Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Tom Hallowell officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin. The son of Wilhelm and Justina (Zeh) Wutzke, Jacob was born on July 19, 1908 at Kuruschieka, Bessarabia, South Russia. He emigrated to the United States through Ellis Island with his parents in 1910. Jacob was raised and educated in Elgin. He married Anna Rivinius on Oct. 26, 1932 at Elgin. After their marriage, Jake lived most of his life in the Elgin area with the exception of one year in Stevensville, Mont. and one year in Bismarck. Jake was a farmer at heart and he also worked in the oil business as well as for the Montana-Dakota Utilities company. He was a land agent in the right-of-way and pipeline department out of Glendive, Mont. After 15 years of service, Jake resigned from MDU and opened an insurance agency in Elgin, which he ran for several years. After which he returned to work for MDU on a part time basis and started a hobby farm, of Elgin. Jake loved to travel and he enjoyed spending the cold winters in the south. Jake loved to go fishing, camping, hunting and trapping. He especially enjoyed fishing with his wife, grandchildren and friends. Jake was grateful for the joy of friendship -- he always said that he never met a stranger. Jake was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church and for several years he served on the church council and taught Sunday School. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Anna; and daughters, Hilda Schultz, Las Vegas, Florence and Gordon Baesler, Bismarck, Rudy and Pete Koepplin, Elgin, Nelda and Leo Oster, Bismarck; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Jake loved his family immensely. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Delores Ding and Agnes.
