Description	:	Jacob G. Beck, living near Fostoria IA, died at his home Friday, December 21, 1923. His death was due to paralysis. At the time of his death he was sixty-six years of age. Mr. Beck was born January 26, 1857, in Holstein, Germany. Here he grew to manhood coming to the United States in the year 1878 and settling in Bloomington IL and later coming to Clay County where he has lived for many years. Beck, living near Fostoria IA, died at his home Friday, December 21, 1923. His death was due to paralysis. At the time of his death he was sixty-six years of age. Mr. Beck was born January 26, 1857, in Holstein, Germany. Here he grew to manhood coming to the United States in the year 1878 and settling in Bloomington IL and later coming to Clay County where he has lived for many years. He was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Dahms June 4, 1885, and to this union were born eleven children. One son, Ernest E. died in the year 1914. The rest of the children survive their father: Mrs. Augusta Van Schravendyk of Hope ID, Mrs. Etta Coffman of Lacon IL, Fred Beck of Anoka MN, Mrs. Marius Sonius living near Fostoria IA, George, Henry, Gustav and Louie Beck, Mrs. Edith Schoning, Mrs. Florence Meyers. He is also survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. C. F. Eggers of American Falls ID, fifteen grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 23, 1923, at two o'clock at the Methodist church conducted by the Rev. Hammerle, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer IA. He first became ill with the rheumatism which later developed into dropsy. His death was due to a paralytic stroke suffered last week. Funeral services were conducted at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Fostoria IA by Rev. E. Hammerle pastor of the church. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer IA. Jacob Beck was born in Holstein, Germany on January 24, 1847 and was at the time of his death 66 years 16 months and 25 days of age. He grew to young manhood in Germany and in 1878 came to the United States and first settled at Bloomington IL and then came to Clay County where he lived for over forty years. He was farming four miles west of Fostoria three years ago when he decided to retire and moved into the town of Fostoria where he had once made his home. He had been running a cream station in Fostoria. Mr. Beck was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Dahms at Spencer and to this union eleven children were born. One child died in 1914. The surviving children are Mrs. Augusta Vanschravendyke of Hope ID, Mrs. Etta Coffman of Lacon IL, Fred Beck of Anoka IA, and Mrs. Marie Sonius, George Beck, Henry Beck, Gustave Beck, Louis Beck, Mrs. Edith Schoning and Mrs. Florence Meyers, all living in this county.
