Description	:	"Died -- at the home of his son, Joel, in Dawson township, on Wednesday, June 12, of consumption [tuberculosis], Mr. Jacob Kloss, aged 71 years. "Thus has passed from earthly sight and friendships, a man who has ever been true and honorable in all the relations of a long and busy life; one who will be `remembered for what he has done.' The home in which he has so well borne the relation of husband and father, will of course miss him most, and our county has suffered the loss of a noble, upright citizen. "Jacob Kloss was born... Read More	"Died -- at the home of his son, Joel, in Dawson township, on Wednesday, June 12, of consumption [tuberculosis], Mr. Jacob Kloss, aged 71 years. "Jacob Kloss was born in the year 1815, in Waldmehr [sic; Waldmohr], Bavaria. In 1834 he came to this country, locating in the coal regions of Pennsylvania. In 1870 he moved to Dawson township, Greene county, where he has since lived. He was the father of eleven children, seven of whom, with his widow survive him. Three children live in Greene county, Mrs. J.P. Hunt, and Joel and Philip Kloss. He has been, since 1870, a conscientious member of the Presbyterian church. His funeral was conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith, of Paton, and was largely attended. The [italics] Bee sends its words of sympathy for the family who mourn the death of so true a friend." "We desire to express our sincerest gratitude to the many friends who were so kind and attentive to our dear husband and father during his last illness, and also for kindnesses rendered since his death. These will never be forgotten. Mrs. Jacob Kloss, Mrs. J.P. Hunt, Joel Kloss, Philip Kloss." Jacob Kloss was buried at the Dawson Cemetery, Greene County, Iowa. The marker, a white marble spire on a grey granite base, is inscribed: "Jacob Koss 71 yrs, 3 ms, 23 dys"
