Description	:	Death of Jacob L. Houchin -- Jacob L. Houchin was born near Newtown, Livingston Co., Ill. He came to Nebraska with his father late in the fall of 1878 and settled in Geneva. Houchin -- Jacob L. Houchin was born near Newtown, Livingston Co., Ill. He came to Nebraska with his father late in the fall of 1878 and settled in Geneva. He was married to Mary L. Beals August 30, 1881. To this union three children were born: Floyd R., Welcome and one son who died in infancy. He and his family moved from Geneva to Lincoln in 1897, and from Lincoln to Omaha in 1899, where he passed away August 27, 1922, aged 66 years, 6 months and 14 days. He also leaves three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Emma Miller of Allegany, N. Y., Mrs. Grace L. Webb of Lancaster, O., Orlando, C. Houchin of Billings, Mont., and Mrs. John Mills of Omaha, Neb. Had he lived until Wednesday, August 30, 1922 he and his wife would have celebrated their forty-first welding anniversary. Rev. Mr. Sheldon, who was pastor of the Methodist church at the time, performed the wedding ceremony and was present at the funeral service Sunday afternoon in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Houchin united with the Methodist church in Geneva while the Rev. Mr. Sheldon was pastor and on removal to Omaha united with Trinity Methodist church, of which church Mr. Houchin was a member when he died. Mr. Houchin was a charter member of the Geneva Modern Woodman camp. He always took a deep interest in Woodman affairs and when he moved to Omaha he transferred his membership to Magnolia camp No 1833 of that city. Members of the order gave him every attention during his illness. Anticipating the end of human activity that comes to all, Mr. Houchin selected six pall bearers from members of Magnolia camp and requested that other members of the camp act as an honorary escort. A funeral service was held in Omaha Sunday afternoon. The body arrived in Geneva Monday forenoon, being met at Fairmont, and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. I. Cumberland, the latter being a sister of Mrs. Houchin. Rev. R. H. Thompson conducted a short service at the Cumberland home at 2 p. m. Monday and interment followed in the Geneva cemetery.
