He died Wednesday morning, February 23, 1983 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, after a two-month illness. Read More	Villisca Review – Mar 3, 1983 page 7 column 3 Jacob Leonard Butler Jacob L. Butler was born February 25, 1909, near Villisca, Ia., the son of Jacob and Grace Gardner Butler. He died Wednesday morning, February 23, 1983 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, after a two-month illness. He was a farmer and had been Chief of Police in Villisca for 17 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of W.W. II and a member of the Advent Christian Church and had served on the Deacon Board. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louese Lowenberg; three half sisters, Emma Kuhn, Minnie Mortiz and Daisie Selley, and a half-brother Frank Butler. He is survived by his sister Pearl and brother-in-law Joe Units of Villisca; their children Ruth Young, Dan Units and Barbara Couch; and the children of his sister Louese: Leo Lowenberg, Lola Halm, Mary Baker, John, Glen, Dene, Gene, Max and Dale Lowenberg and Joan Maeder; many grand-nieces and nephews. He was a member of Villisca American Legion Ker-A-Vors Unit #251; the V.F.W.; and was active in the Villisca Senior Citizens. Funeral services were held Saturday February 26, 1983, at the Advent Christian Church.
