Description	:	Jacob was born in the village of Elisabethtal, Molotschna colony located on the Juschanlee where he grew up and attended the elementary school where he learned the basics of education together with the Bible stories and singing the church hymns. He came over from Russia on the S. S. Teutonia. Jacob grew up on the village farm and when they came to America, he continued farming. He came over from Russia on the S. S. Teutonia. Jacob grew up on the village farm and when they came to America, he continued farming. The family settled in Harvey County, Kansas, where he had to assume many of the responsibilities of the oldest son in the family. The early pioneering days were some very difficult times for the newly transplanted family, which also experienced some setbacks. With hard work, frugality, and faithfulness to the tasks, the Lord blessed the young families so that they were able to have enough for a good life in later years. Jacob and his family built up a very fine farm home in Harvey County east of Buhler.
